When this gleaming garden highlight burst into action in summer, it really is quite the siren and we’re sure you’ll be smitten. It’s hard not to fall in love with those large, ruffled, pure white blooms of Gladiolus 'Violet Heart', each blotched with a shock of vibrant purple. It’s flamboyant and impressive, but there’s an essence of natural charm with its colour and pattern which seems to have taken inspiration from its wild relative, Acidanthera (Gladiolus murielae). Closer inspection reveals itself to be the more fun, flashy result of a breeding experiment, which you could perhaps call ‘nature with a twist’!
